Eastside Vibe Review
What You Didn't Know
Now everybody on the Eastside knows where the Lake is. It’s that little log cabin bar on Old St. Rt. 74. Did you know it opens daily at 7:30 a.m. and has for decades? Probably the longest running bar in the area, the Lake is a landmark. If the walls could talk what a story they would have to tell. Who knows how many of our parents and grandparents would be mentioned? Most likely a lot.
The little log cabin has been through many ups & downs. Now, it’s on it’s way up to a new level never seen before. Why? Well live bands for one, super sexy fun loving bartenders for another. Cheap drinks and free food during the games is yet another. In fact they have cheap drinks everyday let alone during the game. Floor 13’s acoustic duo was rockin’ the bar the night we checked it out. The two guitarists (Nick Netherton & Chris Wheeler) put on a hell of a show as an acoustic act, they still play the same hard rockin’ music they do when it’s the full band, only difference they call their act “Salem Rd.” I told them they should call it “Floor 11” but they’re sticking with Salem Rd. Regardless of what you call it, it’s a damn fine show.
The Lake also has one of EV’s favorite party bands ever, Right Turn Clyde is playing alternating shows along with Salem Rd. Now you know your going to need a cab when these guys hit the stage. It’s a no holds barred rock it slam it suck it down freedom fest the likes of which are rarely ever seen in a bar like this. I’ll be there, you can count on that. Dano’s driving and I’m drinking. There’s no two ways about it.
Bartenders... beware, Right Turn Clyde and a few dozen fanatical fans is crazy enough, factor in access to 50 bottles of liquor, 300 bottles of beer & all that love you show everyone and things can quickly get crazy. I don’t think the girls are worried about a rowdy crowd though. The two bartenders (Bonnie & Ashlie) dishing out the drinks on this visit seemed quite capable of holding their own no matter how off the hook the party turns out. One might say they crave the action the live bands bring in. Your going to get your chance ladies, I think when people realize the Lake is a great little local pub that knows how to party your capacity isn’t capable of containing the crowds.
The Lake knows how to party, that’s for damn sure.
It’s as relaxed as it gets and everyone is welcome. Young and old, married or single, black or white the only thing the Lake requires from it’s patrons is good behavior towards all and the willingness to let it all hang out, or at least forgiveness for those who do.
I know one thing for certain, sexy ladies behind the bar, rowdy rockers on the stage and coolers crammed with cold beer is a recipe for success at any bar. The Lake is no exception. The people that may have thought this was an old timers bar, full of local yocals sitting around sipping whiskey and talking tall tales through their dentures of their hay days, are in for a surprise. Folks, when the bartenders jump up on stage with the band and start dancing you know your not in a old timers bar... your at a party.
The Lake was the best kept secret on the Eastside. Now they’re letting the cat out of the bag. Your going to see more and more great party bands jammin’ at the Lake too. When the word gets out and the crowd calls out for more the Lake is going to give it to you. Watch and see.
