Jammin' With Stolit
Here it is, the sweetest sounds to hit the Eastside in a long time. This is a band worthy of sharing the stage with bad ass jam band brethren The Rusty Van Band. If you were to put the two bands on the same stage in a bar you’d be thinking “I need a music festival instead of this damn bar” yeah it’s like that. It’s just like that. Straight dope folks.
Stolit has a sound straight out of South Cali.
A screaming six string, a Jamaican bass bump, a tribal drum thump, soaring vocals and enough energy to fuel all the booties that need to bump. Booties? Hell yeah! There is some fine female flesh stacked up row after row dead in front of the stage swaying and lip syncing along with Stolit’s righteous raps. After all what do you think is going to happen when you book a band that has a fresh vibrant youthful sound? Fresh vibrant youths are not far behind. Stolit certainly deserves the EV freshness award (if there really was one). This relatively unknown band from Amelia doesn’t even have a schedule posted on their myspace (www.myspace.com/stolit513) just a simple listing “June 20th Rong Tans Beechmont Ave. 10 PM” that’s it.
It’s crazy, countless sub par bands are booked all over town, staying busy and booked. Stolit plays so rarely it feels like an event when they do play. Maybe that’s a good thing, actually we know that’s a good thing. There’s a couple bands that have booked themselves so tight and so often they can’t even draw a decent crowd anymore.
We doubt that will ever be the case with Stolit.
At least we hope not.
So what’s the fuss all about? How does Stolit get a couple hundred people to show up and party hard at Rong Tans every month? Well just like The RVB, Stolit erases all traces of commercial radio out of their set list, fires up and fires off the straight dank kush bump. They’re damn proud of it too.
If you still don’t get it, you probably don’t need to. Your either too old or too straight
( as in “straight & narrow”). You know... Bible Humpers. For all the old schoolers out there we’ll just put it to you this way. Bob Marley, Sublime, Kotton Mouth Kings etc. Look em’ up, listen up. This is the vibe Stolit is keeping alive, same with RVB. Before you go off thinking they are just a sucka wannabee jam band think again.
