Press Release, October 13, 2010
“Atlas Records is pleased to announce the release of SONNY MOORMAN’S brand new CD entitled MORE LIVE AS HELL - Up To My Neck In The Blues. This is the follow-up to the hugely successful and critically acclaimed Live as Hell CD.
It features more of Sonny’s songs from the same great show including “Up to My Neck in the Blues” and 2009 JPF Blues Song of the Year nominee “Crossroads Motel”, as well as an incredible rendition of the classic “Black Magic Woman”. Once again a superb concert experience is captured with Sonny’s playing, singing, production and Erwin Musper’s engineering. This is truly another great Sonny Moorman recording you will want to add
to your collection.”
So, for all you Sonny Moorman fans out there in Cincy (or reading online from out of town) here is another CD to add to your coveted collection. I for one have them all, even studio bootlegs & one offs. Sonny tells me I have stuff even he no longer has. Obviously I went straight for this new one to add to them.
Sonny’s stuff is always recorded with high quality standards, as is the live show as well. I once complimented Sonny saying “This sounds stupid, but your band always sounds good, you always have a perfectly dialed in sound, even in a little pub or big hall, and you do it with no sound man. Believe it or not I often hear bands that play well, but the sound is all off.” Sonny simply replied “Well, you know RJ when you play music, you really need to care about the sound... and I know what you mean, it isn’t as easy as people think.” Sonny makes it look easy. He makes playing like Hendrix look easy.
If you dug Telegraph road, you’ll be familiar with the new release. Sonny has never been bested by original work and this one is no exception. When it comes to power blues and insane sliding guitar riffs, Sonny is still the man to beat.
This new release is a must have for the collector, or fan. Or just for those whom (like me) already damn near wore out the original. Get your copy of “More Live as Hell” at the live show or CD Baby.
