Do You Do Aloo?
Shaan Indian
3880 Paxton Avenue Cincinnati
(513) 533-3100

Hyde Park has it’s fair share of Indian cuisine. No doubt about that. Here is a mouth watering photo of the most recent addition, Shaan Indian. We tried the lunch buffet, It’s just $7.99 7 days a week and features different entree dishes daily. It was all fresh and well stocked. We also tried specialty dishes off the menu. Want to tweak the menu? No problem, just ask. Take aloo saag paneer for instance it is an off menu item that technically doesn’t exist.
It breaks down like this;
aloo=potato cubes saag=spinach paneer=cheese cubes.
Normally you just see aloo saag or saag paneer but we dig it the most with all three. If you don’t see what moves you, Shaan Indian has no problem allowing you to create the “dish” you want. That’s appreciated.
We tore up three kinds of bread, garlic naan, roti and bhatura.
We killed two Mango Lassies and went back to rob the buffet of those awesome little fried dough ball desserts soaked in sweet syrup and rice pudding.
69 minutes later, belts hanging and a hard nap coming on strong we limped out to the car. Soul satisfyingly stuffed.
Hyde Park may not need Shaan Indian but we bet they’ll be damn glad they are there. It’s smack dab in the plaza next door to Cincinnati Bell. You can do your shopping and walk over for lunch. If you tear it up like us you had best do the shopping first. There’s a lot to try. And brother we’re not leaving until we’ve tried it all.
Shaan Indian has spot on quality, selection, and service. These folks are downright determined to get you what you want (fast), explain the menu, keep your drink topped off and treat you like they are proud you gave them the chance to earn your business. That’s a precious thing these days when so many people just expect your business and do little to earn it at all.
These cats get are as excited about pleasing customers as a grandma feeding a stranger a piece of her famous pecan pie. It’s all about the smiles, umms and aaahs. With their attention to customer service, great recipes and $8 beauty of a buffet Shaan Indian should do just fine rubbing elbows against their Hyde Park Indian neighbors.
Im usually doubtful of buffets in general and esp. Indian buffets but this place was great...chicken tikka masala, saag, samosas, and tandoori chicken that WASNT overcooked and flavorless like at most other places!!
anyways service is great too...family owned and operated im assuming as usual...nice folks! check em out!
