Opening soon
Rhinos “Live”
11473 Chester Road
Sharonville
Almost 4 years ago Bob Flinders and Larry Keckeis decided to open a bar.
They settled at a location on Eastgate South Drive and Rhino’s Bar
And Grill was born. Billiards fan Bob Flinders spared no expense outfitting
the bar to cater to billiards lovers. Dedicating half of the space in the
building to the $8,000 tables and the remaining space to the bar and kitchen.
It went swell for about three or four months then the owners decided to book
a band (Soul Pocket) to pick up the bar sales at night and a tiger got the
rhino by the tail.
Crowds started building and a few tables were moved to accommadate them.
Booking more good bands the crowds kept coming back for more and more and
more until the small “stage” had to be moved and more pool tables
had to go. Working up to larger bands Rhinos Booked the Menus and the bar
was at capacity by 10:30. It was now painfully clear that all of the pool
tables had to be sacrificed for the ever increasing need for crowd space.
The stage was moved two more times and finally they built a “real stage” complete
with state of the art lighting and sound system, one new dance floor and
a second bar. Two years after the baby rhino reared it’s horned head
it had grown to be a full fledged powerhouse. Rhinos now offers the best
local venue for live acts and they show no sign of slowing. In fact, another
Rhino offspring is on the way.
“Rhino’s Live” located at 11473 Chester Road (in the building
formerly known as the Music Palace) is already in labor. Predicting the exact
delivery date with baby rhinos is difficult but all involved expect the young
star to arrive in late December. Its proud parents have been working 16 + hour
days to see that his environment is properly prepared for the thousands of
expected guests that will attend its birth.
The massive building with its two story seating has a feeling of grandeur.
The design affords every table a great view of the mammoth stage and the
state of the art sound system propels every note to the crowd in perfect
clarity. Couple that with a full size kitchen and first and second story
bars and you get the feeling the words “properly prepared” may
not quite reflect exactly how “Rhinos Live” is going to be.
Beautifully appointed and designed solely for the live bands that will grace
the huge stage 6 nights a week, Rhinos “Live” will certainly
be a powerhouse in its own right and why wouldn’t it,
it draws it’s DNA directly from the first Rhinos, a huge success in
its own right.
Bob and Larry may have never expected to be operating one of the biggest
live band venues on the Eastside when they opened the original Rhinos. This
time around they’re raising their new baby with more wisdom and no
guess work. There’s an old saying “you can do it right or you
can do it twice”, well Bob and Larry are doing both.
We will keep you updated on our website www.eastsidevibe.com on the progress
of the new Rhinos “Live” and of course we will be there for the
birth party of this new addition to the Rhinos family. It’s sure to
be a party you’ll not soon forget.
