The Best $5 You'll Ever Spend
Putters in Milford has come up with a hell of a promotion. They bought a beautiful classic Caddy limo and are offering a pick up and drop service for their local customers. The best part is it’s only $5! For a flat $5 Putters shows up at your door and cruises you to the bar in style (10 mile limit). $5 gets you home as well. $10 round trip. The local cab companies can’t touch it, and the local P.D. can’t touch you.
I’m so glad to see something like this (especially since I live in the 10 mile limit). Putters has good food, great local bands and ample patio space. They have a popular concept going strong and with the addition of the limousine service you could say they have it all.
Our county suffers greatly from the lack of cheap public transportation. We have no bus service worth mentioning and the cabs are expensive and often far from professional. We’ve even been told “we can’t make it out there just for you” before. We were in Loveland! Once we were charged around $40 to go 17 miles on Beechmont. My god it’s no wonder we have a DUI issue. Mothers against drunk driving should put more effort into getting a bus service going if they really want to make a difference around here. Other cities have solved this problem decades ago. In Las Vegas you can travel from one point to another anywhere in the city 24 hours a day for a dollar. Anywhere.
Las Vegas doesn’t even have taxes to fund it with either!
People fund it, every time they ride the bus. Makes sense.
Our county is never going to bother to create a decent transit system. Never. So we can to continue to complain about it, or we can change it a little on our own. Putters has taken the first step. If others follow their lead we could actually achieve a very worthwhile thing. For once in the history of this county people could go out and have fun without fear of prosecution or even worse an accident. It’s a great concept every single person can agree with. For the fun lovers it’s a stress relieving blessing. For the M.A.D.D. types it is the most effective way of getting DUI numbers down. So everybody wins, the public, the patrons and the bar.
