By Eric Teepen
The OBMR was a brain child of Bill Gerrard and Eric Teepen, who decided that Owensville needed a music fest, we even had a spot to put one on. The BIG plan evolved, we had a goal to raise money for charities in our area and a way to get the community involved plus pull the local businesses together and get involved in a positive way through music. We have the highest involvement to help expose all the awesome bands in our area as musicians ourselves. We decided that this would be a great way to kick off every Summer from here on out. Everybody that has come on board has been overwhelmed with the positive response from the community. I do believe we have done a wonderful thing all the way around ....a win/win for everyone. Each and every band was excited to jump on board for a good cause and to help this become an annual Owensville Summer event to look forward to. A place to bring your family & friends and enjoy the smiles that music always brings. Tons of musical heroes for the children to look up to and hopefully become involved with music.
So along with all this you have to ask. BEER? Yes we have lots of beer & food. It all comes from local vendors and sponsors. We have Owensville’s own Mim’s pizza and Gold star to mention a few. We also have face painting by Rhonda for the young ones. We are hoping to have many more jump on board as we as a community make the OBMR a monumental stamp on our map. We strive to have all genres of music for everyone. We will be giving away VIP gift packs on 96 Rock.
Commercials and giveaways will start June 1st on (96 Rock and WOBO) radio stations and $5 dollar off coupons are available all over. We also will be doing a food drive this year for St. Vincent Depaul, so be sure to bring a non perishable item. All the raffle items that have been donated will be raffled off with all the proceeds going to charity. We hope to see you all there.
