Getting The Ball Rolling.
No Saints No Saviors Graduates
From Mondays at Shady’s to Friday Night on The Big Stage.
Our March cover featured the little known band No Saints No Saviors. Since then the local Allman Brothers tribute band is getting more & more attention. In fact, just over 2 weeks after we ran the article the downtown tabloid City Beat ran a short but complementary blurb about the band. That’s all fine and well but the real effects of our cover story were truly apparent to the fans who showed up at the March No Saints No Saviors show at Madison Theater.

Now if you’ve been reading all along you know the only place you can see No Saints No Saviors is at Shady O’Grady’s in Loveland on Monday nights. It’s a fine time but seeing the band under the bright lights on the big stage is much more in tune with their talent. Just look at the photos!

A headlining gig at the Madison Theatre is a far cry from a Monday night pub gig. Just how exactly did the band go from a no cover Monday night Shady O’Grady’s gig to $12 admission main stage gig?

Well, talent first and foremost. Oddly enough the initial inspiration came from the cover itself. The cover read “Grateful Dead... Dark Star, Pink Floyd... Wish You Were Here... Allman Brothers... No Saints No Saviors.” For those of you without a clue Dark Star is a hugely successful Dead tribute band, same with Wish You Were Here (who tribute Pink Floyd). These two bands are national acts who pull down some serious cash for keeping the music of their favorite bands alive. In time, many tribute bands may even outlast the original bands they cover. Good tribute bands almost never play venues that seat less than a thousand or two and they get booked worldwide. Believe it or not, that’s a bold statement few local bands will ever be able to make... if any at all.

No Saints No Saviors has the talent, the experience and the desire. All they need is the chance. Hence, when we wrote the title we were including them right along side the already accomplished tribute bands. The band liked the title and when they saw that Dark Star was playing the Madison the next month, wheels started spinning. Phone calls were made, our article was passed around and soon No Saints No Saviors were booked on the big stage. We asked Madison Theater about the gig and they told us “It’s unusual to see a new band with such strong well known talent in it from other bands (that have played here before)... We knew the level of skill they had and thought it would be a great show” A great show it was indeed.

Hopefully more and more bigger venue shows will appear on the bands schedule. We’ll keep doing our part and the band is just warming up.
Other papers still stick to the “Clear Channel Approved” list when writing band articles and that’s fine with us. We keep it real, keep it local and stay focused on what we strive to be all along... a big voice for the little people.
