Mt. Repose Tavern
Good Food, Good Folks And Damn Good Bands

Mt. Repose Tavern
1296 State Route 28
Loveland 722-1700

Believe it or not it’s getting harder and harder to find a good quality meal at a decent price. The decent price part isn’t uncommon but the good quality part is.
More and more we’re seeing local eateries opting to buy their products from factory food services rather than make them from scratch. Many claim the costs of scratch made food is just too high to compete against the corporate giants that swallow up most of our local customers. That’s sad not to mention scary.

When the new owner ( Walt) of Mt. Repose Tavern took over the pub he admittedly had no idea what he was in for. Walt owns a construction company and he can tell you anything about home building. The only experience he has with pubs comes from lunches at them with his crew. That doesn’t mean he can’t run a pub though, in fact it’s just his kind of blue collar working man experience that’s pushing Mt. Repose Tavern’s menu to new heights.
Walt’s goal is too provide folks with a quality meal on a working man’s budget. “Honestly it’s not even that hard to do if you care about it enough” Walt explains. Walt’s been spending a great deal of time making connections and sourcing his raw ingredients. With fresh produce and hand cut whole meats the MRT menu is evolving quite nicely. The daily specials are truly special and the word is spreading fast.
The Miami Township pub that was once known more for hard drinking and rough customers is now becoming known for good food and family friendly dinner service.
“I wanted to change this place around, I don’t want MRT’s to be associated with what it was but rather for what it is now. I took it over with the goal of turning it into a great place for locals to get a great lunch or dinner at an affordable price. When it was George’s families came here to eat and felt comfortable, I’m bringing back that same family friendly quality”.

Walt’s off to a great start. In just a short time he has made big changes that have the locals happy as well as the local police. No longer do the cops circle the bar at night, they understand Walt’s mission is to provide locals with good lunches and dinners with great live music on the weekends. Providing patrons with on site rides home is just one out of the ordinary way he shows his dedication to community values and safety too. “No one drives home who wants a ride’. We’re going to continually work on that aspect, we don’t want anyone to drive home intoxicated we could have prevented. DUI prevention starts at the bar”.
Don’t let the words family friendly and DUI prevention lead you to believe Mt. Repose tavern doesn’t know how to party. Walt’s stocking his Saturday night live band line up with the best and brightest. He’s searching high and low and going out to see bands in an effort to get the best entertainment at MRT’s. Just look at the article on Final Order, we found that band at MRT’s and it’s only their third gig ever! MRT’s Thursday night open jam with members from The Rusty Van Band (one of our very favorite bands in the world) is a blast and drawing record numbers.
We’re certain the band list will grab the attention of local live music fans. What we’re worried about are all these beautiful dishes not being noticed by the locals who have a knee jerk reaction to some Applebee’s commercial or what ever other corporate bullsh!t they spew on us on every channel. Skip the riblets folks, MRT’s is where you want to be seated for dinner. You just don’t know it yet!
Well, now you do.
Give Walt and the MRT’s crew a try the next time you decide to head out to the Milford strip for a nice dinner. And, don’t forget MRT’s has a hell of a lunch special that makes fast food look like dog food. It’s not just good food it’s cheap food too.
