But Are You Feeding Them Dangerous Drugs? Odds are you do!

We’ve all heard about MSG. Some people suffer severe side effects after consuming it, others think it’s really not that bad and eat it anyway. Facts do support the scientific consensus that it is dangerous to even be exposed to MSG let alone eat it. What’s really sad is MSG effects developing children much more severely than adults. On top of that many food items marketed specifically for children contain MSG. Many foods contain MSG but you won’t find it on the label, the FDA allows manufacturers to call MSG many other names on the packages ingredients.
I wonder why? Take at look at the information we’ve compiled and decide if it’s worth the risk for you & your family to continue eating or serving it.

What is MSG?
Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) is a flavor enhancer used in many foods. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) classified MSG as a food ingredient and has deemed it “generally recognized as safe.” Glutamate is a natural substance that is found in meat, vegetables, poultry and milk. The human body also produces glutamate naturally. Glutamate in the body plays an important role in normal functioning of the nervous system. MSG is an “excitotoxin” or neurotoxin that has a degenerative effect on the brain and nervous system.

Why use MSG?
Over the last fifty years, food manufacturers have steadily increased the amount of MSG added to foods. One of the primary and most consistent effects of MSG and other excitotoxins is triggering “an insulin/adrenalin/fat storage/food craving response.” That response is what causes the, “you’re hungry again an hour after eating Chinese food,” feeling. It is also why some of us crave potato chips and other snack foods that contain MSG, even though we’re full. It’s no wonder America is experiencing an obesity epidemic! If rats become obese through consumption of unnatural amounts of monosodium glutamate, it’s not a big leap to attribute the same response in the human body. The fact of the matter is, MSG causes us to crave the foods processed with MSG and a majority of processed and prepackaged foods now contain monosodium glutamate. In fact, monosodium glutamate is a crucial ingredient in low-fat and non-fat foods since much of the natural flavors are lost when oil is extracted. One characteristic of the obesity induced by excitotoxins is that it doesn’t appear to depend on food intake. This could explain why some people cannot diet away their obesity,” according to Dr. Russell L. Blaylock in his book Excitotoxins.

Can MSG really cause diabetes?
In a report, “Sensory And Autonomic Nerve Changes In The Msg-Treated Rat : A Model Of Type II Diabetes” by Morrison JF, Shehab S, Sheen R, Dhanasekaran S, Shaffiullah M, Mensah-Brown E At UAE University, we learn, “There was also a significant increase in adrenal adrenaline, dopamine and serotonin, largely attributable to changes of weight of the adrenal gland in the MSG animals. The results indicate that MSG-treated animals develop a form of Type II diabetes by about 60 weeks of age.”

Side Effects of MSG
Cardiac: Arrhythmia, Atrial fibrillation, Tachycardia, Rapid heartbeat, Palpitations, Slow heartbeat, Angina, Extreme rise or drop in blood pressure.
Circulatory: Swelling, Gastrointestinal, Diarrhea, Nausea/vomiting, Stomach cramps, Rectal bleeding Bloating, Muscular Flu-like achiness ,Joint pain, Stiffness. Neurological: Depression, Mood swings, Rage reactions, Migraine headaches, Dizziness, Light-headedness, Loss of balance, Disorientation, Mental confusion, Anxiety, Panic attacks, Hyperactivity, Behavioral problems in children, Attention Deficit Disorders, Lethargy, Sleepiness, Numbness or paralysis, Seizures, Sciatica Slurred speech, Chills and shakes, Shuddering. Visual: Blurred vision, Difficulty focusing, Pressure around eyes
Respiratory: Asthma, Shortness of breath, Chest Pains, Tightness in the chest, Runny nose, Sneezing. Urological & Genital: Bladder pain (with frequency), Swelling of the prostate, Swelling of the Vagina, Vaginal spotting, Frequent urination, Nocturia. Skin: Hives (both internal and external) Rash, Mouth lesion, Temporary tightness or partial paralysis (numbness or tingling) of the skin, Flushing, Extreme dryness of the mouth, Face swelling, Tongue swelling, Bags under eyes, anxiety attacks, neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s, Fibromyalgia, MS, Parkinson’s and even Autism may be caused by or intensified by severe allergy or sensitivity to Monosodium Glutamate. Gross Obesity, Stunted growth, Learning disabilities, and Behavior disorders are also known reactions in children, some not appearing until puberty.
MSG was used in powdered baby formula until the 1960’s when it was determined MSG had detrimental neurological impact on the brain of infants.

Other ingredients that contain MSG:
glutamate, glutamic acid, gelatin, calcium caseinate textured protein, monopotassium glutamate, Sodium caseinate, yeast nutrient, yeast extract, autolyzed yeast, hydrolyzed protein, hydrolyzed corn gluten, bouillon and broth, natural Chicken (or any meat) flavoring, soy protein isolate. Low fat and no fat milk products often include milk solids that contain MSG. Raw vegetables also may contain MSG due to AuxiGro crop spray (contains 30% MSG).
According to the manufacturer, Varivax–Merck chicken pox vaccine (Varicella Virus Live), contains L-monosodium glutamate and hydrolyzed gelatin both of which contain processed free glutamic acid (MSG) which causes brain lesions in young laboratory animals, and causes endocrine disturbances like obesity and reproductive disorders later in life. It would appear that most, if not all, live virus vaccines contain MSG.
Remember: By FDA definition, all MSG is “naturally occurring.” “Natural” doesn’t mean “safe.” “Natural” only means that the ingredient started out in nature.
Reactions to MSG are dose related, some people react to even very small amounts. MSG-induced reactions may occur immediately after ingestion or after as much as 48 hours.
You can find much more reliable unbiased information on many popular consumer protection web sites. I for one have seen enough as it is. The only reading I need to do on MSG is read my food ingredient labels. In fact I just stopped by the local grocery and did a tally on the most popular food product brands here are my findings.

Note: we used only brands for our count, not individual items. Otherwise the list would never fit on this page. In most cases, lets say soup for example there are a total of 9 brands on the shelf. The two that did not have MSG made up about 1/100 of the soup for sale. Cambell’s, Progressive, Generic and Healthy Choice took up 99% of the total shelf, all contained MSG. Healthy Choice even had MSG higher on the list (more %) than the others. The only thing healthy about it is Healthy Choice’s bank account.
