Livid: So Alive

A while back the local band Livid was straining stages to swelling crowds. They had the local metal scene by the tail but the tiger took off. Suddenly... whoosh! They just vanished. Just like magic, they reappeared. Livid is again loud & proud and sporting new originals, a new CD and a new guitar player too. The voodoo that they doo is stronger than ever, same Livid, more mojo.
We focus on local original bands, they deserve our effort the most. The style-genre matters not. Quality is all. We hold tight to the silly notion that if you’re ever going to get real attention as a musician, it must come from original work. We love the Menus like family but covers are for kicks. Top 40 hit song writing is the ticket to a new address on Easy Street (sh!t, top 100 gets you paid). Simple fact. Good tunes and the ability to perform those songs well, should earn you a shot. Probably pinned like a tail on a donkey’s ass to 5 other starry eyed broke bastards opening for hot acts. Getting paid 30 a day and going hungry, but wtf. Your touring!

At the July Rhinos East show the original tunes brought more cheers than the covers did (even the really cool ones). Evidently even WEBN digs it, during the show the band mentioned the airplay and the crowd went upside down (as did many drinks as well). The crowd screamed like stuck monkeys on every Séan Snyder solo, guttural scream from singer Christé Ross, or any other high intensity moment from Doug Morgan (drums), Tim Brown (bass) or John Vitéllaro (guitar). If two or more are involved the people flat out freak. Some near seizure.

The originals on Livid’s debut release (Aoaé) put into clear perspective the ambition, talent and effort this band has. The 10 track compilation stacks up to the music Livid covers. The production is high quality. Itunes sales will determine if Aoaé has the song writing material people like Disturbed fans can embrace. Livid just needs one of the ten to explode like a Richard Pryor crack pipe and light the fire. My bet is it will be “Pseudonym”. The Rhinos crowd hit that joint hard, deafening applause, females straining the stitches of their thongs, guys power screaming with four points high. Crazy sh!t.

Will Livid make the charts.... will they smell the leather of a million dollar studio... or will they self destruct in a violent spew of ego based angst, left angry and bitter, paying half the rent from re-hashed local shows? Time will tell. We will tell (same bat time same bat channel). It all comes down to crowd control. Lose the fans, lose the dream. Based on this steamy July night, Livid is just getting started (again).
