Godspeed Kenny! We’ll see ya when y’all get back.
Uncle Sam’s Tavern 4700 St. Rt. 276 732-9899
Listen up people. You’ve all heard the rumors... now hear the truth. The Kenny Welch Band is leaving in February to go on tour for their national “Crank It Up” show.
The details are still being finalized but one way or the other The Kenny Welch Band will be signed with either Warner Brothers, RCA or Atlantic records in few short weeks. All three record companies are salivating over this legendary local act and depending on which company they (KWB) choose they will be touring with big name country stars like Toby Keith, Martina McBride, Rascal Flatts or Keith Urban.
I can’t remember a single other local band that has achieved this much in such a short time.
In fact I can’t think of any other local acts to be signed with a record company of this caliber at all (Dan Varner is on the way though).
Bottom line is that all of us Eastside KWB fans had better get out to this show and enjoy one last home town hoorah before the band is blowing down the road. Your next chance to see Kenny & the gang will involve a road trip and a hotel stay, not to mention an expensive ticket purchase.
If you have been checking out KWB’s web site or myspace (www.kennywelchband.com and www.myspace.com/kennywelchband) you may have been planning on seeing them at one of the February dates. I spoke to Kenny himself and he says he really hopes to be able to play those shows but... if the record company ships his ass off on the road before then, he’s gotta go. This January show may be the last local show after all.
We’d love to see him play all the Eastside shows but if given the opportunity any band would jump at the chance to go on a national tour and play along side country’s best and brightest. So the one show we know he’ll be playing for sure is the January 19th show at Uncle Sam’s Tavern. The band will be signing autographs, photos and hanging out with the fans all night, so don’t miss out. A signed EV cover will be a must have for all serious fans.
Hell it may even become a collectors item! After all only Eastsiders will ever have them.
For those of you who have never been to Uncle Sam’s Tavern I’ll fill you in. After a fire in the kitchen a year or so ago Uncle Sam’s has been busy remodelling the place. Now it’s a shining new bar and many improvements came with the construction.
The dance floor and stage were incorporated to handle bigger bands & crowds, the kitchen was all replaced to keep the home cooked food flowing out to the tables and the whole interior was given a new fresh look.
Uncle Sam’s has been booking the best local bands they can find ever since and the bar’s popularity is catching on. I’m surprised it’s not at capacity every weekend given it’s location.
Situated at 4700 St. Rt. 276 (just a mile from the Half Acre or Batavia exit) in between Owensville and Batavia Uncle Sam’s has virtually no competition. No one else in the area has live entertainment, good homemade food and cheap prices like Uncle Sam’s. In fact there really isn’t any other live band clubs in the area at all.
All of you folks out in Williamsburg, Owensville, Goshen, Batavia, Mt. Orab and everything else east of that can save yourself a drive and a hassle by checking out Uncle Sam’s band line up before you venture into the Eastgate area.
You don’t have to wait around for the weekend to have a good time either. Uncle Sam’s is open daily and you’ll find pool/dart leagues, cheap drinks and good food all the time. Even if you’re not a drinker you’ll become fond of this local pub if for nothing else than the food. After all where else are you going to find a hand cut Ribeye dinner anywhere near Owensville?
