Groove Crew

"Groove Crew" started in mid September 2007 when Danny (bass guitar) answered Galen's (lead vocals) ad in a local paper. After a meeting they quickly realized that they had a similar vision to form a band. From there they practiced a couple songs together and decided to do an 'open mic' to see how people would react to their direction. The feedback was good and made them realize their potential and direction. So they buckled down and started learning more songs and doing more 'open mic' nights while searching for more players. Jeff (drums) was next to join the band, as he and Danny already knew each other. After a few discussions one day Jeff decided to audition and accept his role as the drummer. Matt (guitar; vocals) was another person that Danny contacted in a local paper, only Matt was brought on board to play percussion (as his ad specified). Matt turned out to be quite a savvy musician and assumed his current role as the guitar player. After several practices Brian (tenor sax; harmonica; vocals; percussion) answered an ad that Jeff placed in Dayton, so Groove Crew set up an audition for Brian. Over the next few weeks the group worked to tighten their sound while continuing their search for a female singer. That's when Joya (lead vocals; percussion) auditioned and joined the band. She gave the band a boost in the direction they were seeking. After a month of tightening their sound (both musically and vocally) Saul (piano; keyboards) decided to audition and accept his role in the band. Saul brought a great deal of feel and soul to the developing sound of Groove Crew, which made the band sound "complete"...
