Going Green

Water Conservation

Everyone needs to start recycling, that’s just a fact. Global warming has already started off the planets next death cycle, nevertheless if we make every effort today, tomorrow may bring a new solution to this terrible tragedy.
We can start by recycling our own garbage. There is no reason to just chuck it to the curb and let the landfills continue to grow, landfills create methane. Methane is worse than CO2 for our ozone, which is the root cause for global warming.
Big cars & trucks are every green freak’s favorite thing to scream about, that’s all fine but if everyone took a little responsibility for their own garbage it would certainly be more beneficial for the ozone than trying to convince contractors to drive a Geo.
EV has been recycling all the garbage we create and we’ve found that in all of Cincinnati the Eastside offers more recycling drop off and even curb side pick-up points than anywhere else! Just one more reason why the Eastside is the best side.
While we do have more opportunity for easy recycling methods, the info is spread out in various places, we are compiling it all together for easy access. Each month we will add more user friendly info about other “going green“ topics. For starters here’s how you can simply separate your trash and stop the landfill problem. In fact at many drop off points you don’t even need to do much separating at all! You’ll be shocked at how easy this really is, check it out and get started today!

We take our cans/metals to Round Bottom Recycling. The pay rates vary from day to day like the stock market but aluminum cans were 68 cents a pound in January. Three regular kitchen trash bags full of crushed cans paid us $14.50 not bad for trash we would have tossed out and paid to have it taken away! In fact we are earning around $20 a month when we used to pay almost that for garbage service. Metal recycling pays big bucks if you save it up. One customer brought in three big waste radiators and got over $400. Wow, recycling pays.
Round Bottom Recycling pays out for all the items in the “Metals Accepted List” we listed. Check out these prices, copper $2.10 - $2.30 lb., brass $1.40 lb., stainless steel $.50 lb., motors .15 lb., lead/zinc .45 lb. The next time your wondering what do with that old lawn mower or car engine... now you know.

Curb side recycling pickup

Rumpke Recycling
The following areas have curb side recycling included in their municipal contracts:
Loveland, Montgomery, Milford, Mt. Washington
East End, City of Cincinnati

Residents outside of these areas must call Rumpke to subscribe to receive weekly curb side recycling service. Residents living in Hamilton County will
pay about $2.75 a month to enjoy the convenience of curb side collection, while Clermont residents can receive the service for $3.25 a month. To get a bin residents can call 242-4401 or visit rumpkerecycling.com. Other good recycling information web sites are www.oeq.net and clermontswcd.org

Start recycling your trash now, earn some extra money for yourself and help everyone to have a better tomorrow at the same time. We only have one planet, trash it and we die.
It’s nice that we have 50 and 60 degree weather in Jan. & Feb. in Ohio but when the worlds oceans rise 2 feet, Florida will be gone. California, Hawaii, Texas and Louisiana will be cut in half and things will be very different and very desperate. The whole planet will become overcrowded, unable to produce food and be thrown into unstoppable chaos. It’s happening now, the glaciers are melting at a rate that has scientist shocked and horrified.
Our future actually depends on our efforts today. Stop thinking someone will come up with a single solution for the global problem. Small efforts on every ones part are the answer. What is stopping you from doing your part? Absolutely nothing. The Earth’s future is literally in your hands every time you throw out your trash. Take the time to make the world still habitable for tomorrow.

Pancakes with grilled peaches and butterscotch sauce. Recipe texts on sidebar are free to copy for personal use as they come from many sources and include, when known, the original source. Thanks for the help :o, Nick from Faso.
