Exactly why Garzelli’s closed a while back is up for debate. Some say it was the poor service, others say the prices, some argue it’s the quality. We’ve heard it all. One thing is certain, a good restaurant has to have good service, prices and quality. That seems easy but it’s a recipe many can’t seem to get a handle on.
New owners have taken over the location and before they could even get started with a new quality oriented menu or even come up with prices they had to get the interior up to par.
Installing new decor, painting & remodelling (even the kitchen) plus revamping mechanical work were all necessary before the ovens could even be fired up. While that may be a multi-thousand dollar overwhelming task to many for new owners Mark Harding and Patti Webb is was business as usual.
Mark is a seasoned veteran in the contracting business. His construction talents allowed him to do a first rate job on the interior, his and Patti’s passion for good food inspired them to create recipes to insure the menu is even more impressive than the makeover. Mark & Patti have been working on signature recipes at home for quite some time in anticipation of owning a restaurant. That effort has finally paid off.
We tried Mark’s favorite first: the White Pizza ($12.95). Olive oil, garlic and herbs lace flavor throughout this simple cheese & tomato pie. The families crust recipe is impressive. Light and airy with the perfect chew. This indeed was a pizza to contend with any on the pike.
The entire menu has been overhauled to a new level of quality standards. Mark & Patti have transformed the pizza pub into a family restaurant. With dishes like Baked Ziti, Lasagne and Chicken Alfredo there is more to please than just pizza, calzones and grinders, all of which have new recipes and higher quality ingredients.
Locals, stop in and shout out to the new owners, they’re good down to earth people who care more about their level of service and quality than they do about bottom line profit margins. That’s the main ingredient in a successful restaurant recipe. The family recipes that went into the new menu are proof this isn’t some corporate knock off pizza joint. This is mom & pop all the way.
