East End Cafe is very old. In fact there has been a bar/restaurant there
for about 100 years.
Recently re-opened and re-vamped (but not re-named) the Cafe is as vibrant
as ever. Sunny patio seating caters to the lunch crowd, while dining room
seating gives you a view of the band.
Daily lunch specials keep the menu interesting. However, I went with the
hand breaded, spicy catfish filet served with Saratoga chips or fries. East
End makes up their own mustard for this dish (a secret blend of spices and
Guiness) It was so tasty I skipped the ketchup and used almost all of it
on my chips, a second serving allowed me to drizzle my catfish as well. The
catfish was breaded, crispy, fresh and served on a roll with pickle, tomato,
onion and lettuce. Good quality food all in all.
My fellow pub grubber went with the club. This club is dressed to impress,
Big fat stack of fresh meats (roast beef and turkey) topped with bacon, cheese,
tomato, lettuce and mayo on grilled rye served with nice crisp fries. The
only change we made was an additional smear of that marvelous mustard that
came with the catfish. Trust me...if you get it you won’t regret it.
What kind of pub would it be without the beer? Draft lovers can choose from
at least 9 including imports and seasonals.
Altogether the two lunches and two drafts come in at $22.36 . Good food,
good drinks and a good deal.
