Country Cruz'en 109 East Main St. Owensville 732-9111

Owensville residents have a new sweet spot in town. The brand new “Country Cruz’en” just opened last month right smack dab in the middle of town (276/50). If you go thru Owensville you can’t miss it.
It’s an old fashioned restaurant complete with car hops and all. There’s outside dining available if the car’s too cramped or you just feel like taking full advantage of the beautiful summer and fall weather ahead. Take out is always an option as well. Owensville has desperately needed a new food joint. After all, Grammas, Subway and Angilos were pretty much the only show in town until now. Subway is pretty good but kind of a rip off, Angilos cheese is so weird I can’t even eat it and Grammas is good but how often can you keep eating the same damn thing?
I drive by through Owensville all the time and I’ve always wondered why the cops out number the restaurants (how does Owensville justify even having cops anyway? It’s only like 3 minutes from the sheriff’s station!) It’s not like Owensville is some out of the way Mayberry (although they do have an Andy and a Barney the only difference is they actually let Barney carry all his bullets... scary!). In fact, the traffic is steady all day and night (at least some of the night). The area is growing in population and it seems like someone would have jumped on the chance to open up something cool there before now.
Well Country Cruz’en must have felt the same way. They took a small car lot building and remodelled it completely creating a brand new car friendly restaurant. I like its outdoor style and family friendly atmosphere.
You can bet the local young’ns like it too! After all BP is all right for a gas station but not much fun on a Friday evening, so I’m sure Country Cruz’en will be packed with the teenagers as well as the adults.
The food is your classic American drive up (not drive thru) fare. Burgers, chicken and steak sandwiches make up the bulk of the menu with some dogs (regular and chili, short and foot long) served up with toppings galore and real cheese. Salads and sides round out the rest. For a sweet treat they offer Flavor Burst ice cream and Crunchy Cream in cups and cones.
You can get your Crunchy Cream with Reese’s, Oreos, M&M, Nerds, Rainbow Sprinkles, Heath, Chocolate Chip, Butterfinger and more. The Flavor Burst flavors are Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Raspberry, Blue Goo, Green Apple, Strawberry, Cotton Candy, Caramel, Black Cherry and Butter Pecan. You can also get a Banana Split, Turtle Sundae or a Waffle Cone Sundae. Looks like Country Cruz’en is going to give UDF a run for its money.
All around Country Cruz’en is a home town treat with a home town feel to match, they even play country on the outdoor speakers! It’s the perfect place to show off that big slick pick’em up truck on Friday night or just park your beater around the side and sit at the outdoor dining tables.
There is plenty of hot summer days and cool summer nights ahead so if your going to (or thru) Owensville you’ll be missing out if you don’t stop by. This kind of retro Americana is making a big comeback and after you try the food you’ll want to come back again and again.
