Brakin' For Breakfast

By now these photos have already made you hungry and all you want to know is “Where did you get that!” It damn sure wasn’t IHOP we can testify to that. In fact, it’s all Mom & Pop

Putter' Tavers is putting the IHOP to shame every Saturday & Sunday (11-2) with their breakfast menu. Just look at this spread in the photo, now how is IHOP going to top that. Putters even has one thing that IHOP will never have, a seat for you at their outdoor bar where you can enjoy your breakfast platter with a spicy Tobasco Bloody Mary. Ha.
Bottom left is from Goshen’s Gravy. Gravy serves breakfast all day everyday. You can choose from Biscuit Sandwich Plates (from $4.95), Breakfast Plates (from $5.95) and
a long list of a la carte menu items. All are worthy of the drive from the Milford IHOP or Frisch’s. Seriously.

This sweet treat is from Batavia’s Riverside Coffee Mill. Every Saturday an Sunday (8-12) owner Jamie Kinner will serve you up one of her signature waffles fresh and hot (and fast). It comes bare as a babies butt or dressed up with toppings like fresh fruit, nuts, chocolate chips, powered sugar, syrups and whipped cream for just $5.95 If you’ve never been there you really should stop by, it’s quaint, charming, scenic and offers quite a menu.

Maloneys Pub in Anderson. Maloney’s serves down right righteous hot & fast breakfast plates every Saturday & Sunday from 9-1. You all know how well Maloney’s does lunch and dinner, well they do goetta & eggs just as fine. Check out Maloney’s breakfast menu the next time someone suggests Beechmont’s Frisch’s or IHOP. You’ll be glad you did, and so will Maloneys.

Last but far from least this monster of a breakfast creation hails from none other than Milford’s By Golly’s. Affectionately named “The Trash Heap” this mighty meaty breakfast special is beckoning to be on TV. It’s a flat grilled combo of sausage, fresh cut hash browns, ham, peppers & cheese. Topped off with perfect fluffed & puffed scrambled eggs and creamy Southern sausage gravy. Top that Frisch’s! If you still eat at the Big Boy this weekend you deserve to be tarred & feathered and tied to a garbage truck. It’s big, bad & bold and you can’t get it at Frisch’s for any price. By Golly’s will be happy to serve you one for just $7.95 Saturday & Sunday from 9-1.

Here is a last minute entry in the Mom & Pop breakfast article. We thought we had it covered but after meeting with the new Mt. Repose Tavern owner Walt Richardson we realized Mt. Repose Tavern had to be included in the list. MRT’s is really trying to focus on the food service, menu and prices. They are striving to be known as a restaurant with great live entertainment verses a bar with pub grub.
Saturdays & Sundays they get the kitchen up & running first thing for breakfast. The current breakfast menu features the always popular Steak & Eggs Platter. Platters are served with hash browns & toast. You can also get bacon, sausage or pork chop & eggs platters. They serve French Toast and Omelettes as well. Prices are right on, $4.75 to $8 for the platters.
Taco is working double duty, breakfast is served from 9 am to 2 pm, after that the lunch plates kick in followed by a short break and then straight to dinner service. Wow.
It ain’t easy but if it were it would be corporate now wouldn’t it. The whole goal of corporate “training” is to brainwash employees to stop thinking and follow the “training”. Everything comes from the appropriate box, all boxes have a place, simply take the correct portion from the box, cook (setting the timer) slap the boxed portions together and serve with a fake smile. Bullsh#t. MRT’s is cutting their own steaks, shredding whole potatoes, keeping it real.
If you like flash frozen box food then go the hell somewhere else. Golden Corral has all you want.
