Amelia, Proud Home Of Anarchy

The west coast is synonymous with custom bike building. Several bike builder reality shows are on TV. They all make nice bikes. The most common is the Hard-tail based bike (no rear suspension). It’s about 87 years behind the times as far as ride is concerned. These bikes are more “expensive art” than they are road ready street cruisers. You can ride them but you won’t want to after an hour or so. Jesse James’s Hard-tail bikes look good. Roger Bourget’s & Matt Hotch’s bikes look great too. Plus, they are much more advanced and have excellent suspension and engineering.
Not many people are aware of this but we have a custom bike builder here on the Eastside that rivals any! Anarchy MoCo is located in Amelia. The Anarchy facility is closed to the public but the bikes (and parts) they build are sold worldwide.

Study an Anarchy up close and you’ll see why these one of a kind V-Twins sell for up to $85,000 dollars. Anarchy starts with high quality steel stock. Straight lengths of pipes are cut, bent, welded and ground to precision. Then the frames are finish sanded and powder coated to the customers color specifications. Absolutely no filler is used on the bikes to fill in inconsistencies in the welds or sheet metal. Every piece is shaped perfectly by hand. No filler required. That’s a huge undertaking and extremely rare. Even many best of show bikes have filler hidden under the paint. Not at Anarchy. Just take a look at the photo below. That Devil model is pure steel covered in clear coat. 100% perfect metal work all around.

After the frame is powder coated Anarchy installs an Ultima 120cc high performance V-Twin engine, shining like a diamond. Next, front and rear suspension (the rear features a patented single swing arm eccentric Anarchy design), custom wheels & tires, handcrafted steel fuel tank, fenders, handle bars, seat and accessories are carefully installed. Then, comes a 360 front brake and a trans brake, another patented Anarchy design) plus all the hoses, wires, springs and cables that get it running. None which are visible. Get a look at the handle bars, the trans brake and throttle cables are inside the bars. Ingeniously clean.
After you sit down you’ll notice it’s so low it’s sitting on the ground (actually it’s sitting on landing gear). Ready to ride? With the touch of a button the suspension pressurizes and a comfortable 5” ride height is restored. When you park it, touch the control again and squish, it’s flat on the ground. It’s adjustable and set from the builder to provide a comfortable, all day cruisin’ type ride. “To my knowledge it is the only single-side swing arm 300 mm tire bike in production by any licensed U.S. manufacturer” says Anarchy owner Adrian. You can really ride this art, it’s even NADA listed. The two photos at below show how the suspension changes from parked (left) to ride height (right). How many TV builder show bikes have you seen that do that?

Anarchy bikes have stand, stare and slobber good looks. Plus innovative engineering. It gets even more impressive when you get in the seat.
Ignition... on, throttle... twist once, start... Ba Da Vroomm maboom boom boom! First off, find first gear, one down four up... what the #@*^... no clutch!
You know why? None needed. Just nail it and shift it.
Anarchy designed their own automatic clutch that not only looks awesome, it has been used in high performance applications. It’s proven itself reliable and strong aside from esthetically beautiful. It’s a true piece of engineering excellence that makes cable actuated motorcycle clutches seem Amish. Anarchy MoCo has it patented (along with their swing arm and other parts, many available separately).
In the world of custom built bikes looks can be deceiving. What looks like an awesome world class custom built motorcycle might actually be nearly nonfunctional on the street. Most $80,000 bikes sit in climate controlled storage (when they’re not in trailers). Not because the builders are trying to “pull one over”, just because the perfect blend of high art and solid performance requires extreme engineering. Anarchy’s finest talent lies in their engineering ability. It looks like it is built for show, but runs & rides better than most any V-Twin out there. Factory or otherwise.

At shows people have commented “Yeah it’s beautiful but you can’t ride it.” People are in disbelief that this bike incorporates such modern suspension technology in it’s flawless frame. It wasn’t easy. In fact, it required metal work that was claimed to be “impossible” by experts. It was possible and it’s only on an Anarchy. I wonder if those experts still consider themselves experts? Anarchy’s the obvious expert here.
There are 3 models currently in production. The Devil, The Alien and The Black Pro-Street. Orders come in from all over the world. Anarchy has bikes in Italy, Ireland, Germany, New Zealand and Canada!
Amelia may not be the most up and coming area in America (or even in the Eastside) but it can say it’s home to one of the best custom bike builders in the world. They should put up a sign when your coming into town “ Amelia Proud Home Of Anarchy”. I wonder if the Amelia mayor would go for that?
Sign or not Anarchy is there and if you want one, pick out your color, make out a check for more or less 50 grand and in around 70 days you’ll have one. It comes with a better warranty than both Harley and Honda. Not to mention you will be king of any bike night or show anywhere. No trailer required. The true best part about owning an Anarchy is just riding it. The advanced suspension system provides the ride, the awesome Ultima provides the power. Strong trans brake and no clutch hassle. Just ride.
Anarchy bikes are available through authorized dealers only. But you can see all the models, patented parts and more at their site www.anarchymoco.com
