American Pie Diner
1513 State Route 28 Goshen
575-9800
“Bye bye Miss American pie, drove my Chevy to the levy but the levy was
dry”...good song! Everybody wants a piece of the pie.
Many small businesses have opened on State Route 28 trying to grab a piece
of that Goshen patron pie, some good some bad.
Goshen’s newest addition to the restaurant scene is the American Pie
Diner. Good old fashion values and home cooked food provided the foundation.
A bright, clean and nicely decorated building provided the forum.
The American Pie is a slice of refreshing American that is almost lost. It’s
red, white and blue, it’s stuffed with friendly local talent and the
tables are filling up fast with hungry locals.
One look at the outside and I couldn’t resist. I just love mom and
pop cafes (or any mom and pop business for that matter). In an age of Bush
bullshit it’s so rare to find an American business paying homage to
the days of good values, a square meal for a square deal.
These folks aren’t meager millionaires reluctantly taking time to cut
the corporate ribbon on their 50th corporate conglomerate. They are Goshen
family members moms and daughters, dads and sons who decided to take a chance
and hurl their hat into the ring and go up against the Applebees and O’Charleys
of the neighborhood, and thank god for that!
You can tell a lot of thought and a chunk of change went into the American
Pie Diner. Bright, clean, and sunny just about sums it up. The menu is available
if you ignore the specials but I couldn’t resist. I ordered the Philly
cheese steak and fries. I was far from disappointed, it was great. I almost
opted for the goetta (they serve breakfast all day) but I feel the specials
are called “special” for a reason, maybe that's why the corporate
crappers never have any.
I think everything about the American Pie Diner is sort of special. Good
folks making good food and serving it up with good service. Sounds pretty
standard but look around, it’s harder to find than you think. Give
the folks at American Pie a chance to earn your business. I did and I’m
glad I did. The foods good the people are good and in short it’s all
good.
