Eastside Vibe Review
Sick and tired of paying ridiculous ticket prices to see your favorite bands get down and dirty playing some hard rockin’ rock n roll? Look no further. 4th Day Echo can feed your fix. If your jones’n for a rock’n jam these boys know how you feel. 4th Day Echo has got the look the sound and talent to get down. This ain’t no pansy whining and crying cover band... this is the kind of rock n roll that would make AC/DC proud.
There’s a lot of love going into the sticks and strings and a lot of watts to back it up. The band gets it on right off the bat with the first song and it just keeps getting better. When the break finally comes around you’ll probably need a breather just to catch your breath from all the booty shakin’ headbanging and rebel yellin’ from the first set! These guys probably need an I.V. and a nurse just to get them their second wind in time for the second set... no kidding. If they could harness all that bio-electric energy they produce on stage they could power the Marshalls without even plugging them in. Since ample electricity is not a problem they just project all that extra energy onto the crowd and believe me... it’s well received.
The stage is crowded with blondes, brunettes, more blondes and everything in between. The ladies can’t seem to get close enough, trying desperately to suck up more and more of that energy they are funneling into jarring the junk in the trunk. Why I bet you could even make butter if you strapped a mason jar of milk onto the all the female fan’s rowdy rumps. If your trying to worm your way to the front a bit of butter might not be a bad idea. After all, you have to push through all those hot and sweaty screaming twinkies just to get a glimpse of the mayhem. Butter might make it better.
It’s no wonder the youthfull’s want a mouthfull, 4th Day Echo keeps the set list fresh and clean with the most current rock hits as well as a few crowd favorites from the past. On any given night you’ll hear 4th Day Echo blastin’ out anything from Buckcherry and Blink 182 to the Beastie Boys and Bush. They tear into to the Red hot Chili peppers, Rage against the Machine and Radiohead then they roll right into some gritty GNR and Rolling Stones. They even cover Kelly Clarkson and the Dixie Chicks for gits & shiggles (besides it gets the girls all riled up).
Who’s who in this righteous rock n roll riot you ask? Well for starters there’s Matt Cowherd up front loud and proud on the main mic. He plays the six string and the heart strings. Matt does his best to bust a vein with his onstage rampage, he plays guitar pretty well too. Busting the strings on the bass is Chris Simpson a.k.a “The Masseur” Chris pushes, pulls, twists and shakes the bass into giving him what he wants most... a hard punching piledriver pushing through the notes. All that bumping bass keeps the woofers bulging and the beauties bumpin’ and grindin’. Craig Brumfield believes in sailing through the solos like a hardcore surfer in a hurricane. Chris’s six string often gets too hot to touch and is swapped out for a fresh cool one. He tears that up as well but he never misses a beat. I think Chris will invent a watercooled Gibson here soon so he can keep the costs down. Jamie Combs sits in the back amongst a dump truck load of drums and beats out his dynamic dramatics. Some say Jamie’s intense fever for keeping the beat is therapeutic, others say released aggression, still others say it’s Jamie’s way of just playing along and when he’s really riled the cymbals fly, the skins split and the sticks simply splinter. I believe it! I also believe Jamie is the best drummer in the tri-state. Just don’t tell him that, he’s more anxious to get out of the back seat and drive the brazen band with his guitar. Yes Jamie, the best drummer in town is also an awesome guitarist. I hope he never gets the chance to permanently switch it up because he’s a blast when he’s beat’n up his drums. Sorry Jamie I know it’s second nature to you but drummers like you are one in a million. Play your guitar... but stick with the sticks.
If you haven’t seen them yet (or booked them) it’s a show well worth seeing. If you have no idea who they even are you can see more about 4th Day Echo on our band page at eastsidevibe.com we have pics, songs and show dates. You can also check them out at www.myspace.com/4thdayecho. The band’s my space friends list looks like a Hustler “hottie of the year pictorial” so definitely check it out.
